Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 19, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Caporuscio Consulting, LLC (“we,” “us”), operator of the PlantCatcher mobile app (the “App”), handles information when you use the App. By using the App you agree to this policy.
Information we collect
- Photos you submit. When you identify a plant, the photo is sent to a third-party plant-identification provider to return a result. We do not use your photos for advertising.
- Approximate location. With your permission, we use your device location to load your regional dex and to show where species are generally found. Location is used on-device and to query public observation data; we do not sell it.
- Your collection data. Your catches, photos, and progress are stored locally on your device. The App does not require an account.
- Purchase information. Subscriptions are processed by Apple and our subscription provider (RevenueCat). We receive your subscription status, not your payment card details.
- Diagnostics. We may collect anonymous, aggregated usage events to improve the App. This is not linked to your identity.
Third-party services
The App relies on third parties that have their own privacy policies:
- Identification. Photos you submit for identification are sent to Pl@ntNet when live identification is on, or to Moonshot AI (Kimi) as a fallback if Pl@ntNet is not configured. We do not use Plant.id. We may change providers and will update this policy accordingly.
- Map data. Public biodiversity observations come from iNaturalist. We send them a species and region, never your photos or your identity.
- Purchases. Apple processes payments; RevenueCat manages subscription status.
We encourage you to review those providers' policies.
How we use information
We use information to identify plants you photograph, build and display your collection, show relevant regional and map content, process subscriptions, and improve the App. We do not sell your personal information.
Data retention and deletion
Your collection is stored on your device and is removed when you delete the App. Photos sent for identification are handled according to the identification provider’s retention policy. To make a privacy request, contact us at the email below.
Children
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information. Contact us to exercise these rights.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
